Student of the month: Dawn Angove

What an incredible inspiration our September student of the month is. Reminding us that you can start practising yoga at any age. The best time to start truly is NOW! Have a read of lovely Dawns story of how yoga has helped in her life.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 68 years old and am retired I am married to Bruce for 48 years and we have two sons Dean he lives in Bega and Craig lives in Melbourne, we have 6 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter. We have lived in Coffs Harbour for 18 years.

2. How long have you been practising yoga?
It’s been just a little over a year now, I started with my friend Kari who encouraged me to do yoga. I used to travel to Urunga until I found your classes, where I go each Tuesdays and try for Friday’s unless I have something on.

3. Why do you practice yoga and what have you gained from your practice?
I do yoga to help me with relaxing and I find yoga poses or some specific poses are great for my body, like my lower back, hamstrings and arms such as twists. I feel that gained flexibility has improved and my stress levels reduced since doing yoga. Practising yoga has improved life.

4. What is your favourite pose and why?
Its difficult to name just one pose as several come to mined, but Warrior II can help be extended on to other poses.

5. What are your most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my family and good friends, knowing there are there when I need support.

6. I love One Conscious Breath Yoga because…
As its central and easy parking, all the staff are very friendly and welcoming on arrival and through classes, I am very grateful for Frances our teacher, she has a beautiful soul, her nurturing teaching practices are easy to follow, her smile just lights the room.
